Von Miller is helping run the show in Buffalo

When the Buffalo Bills signed Von Miller, they were thinking about Patrick Mahomes.
More specifically, they were thinking about how they can get to him the next time they unavoidably face him. The Bills know that even with the most complete roster in the NFL they can be bested in the playoffs by any of the remarkable quarterbacks in the AFC.
But Miller makes things easier. The two-time Super Bowl champion shines in the playoffs. During his two Super Bowl runs combined, Miller has nine sacks in the postseason. In those two playoff years, Miller has also forced three fumbles, deflected three passes, and racked up eight tackles for loss, per Pro Football Reference.
The Bills got themselves an absolute game-changer.
But long before he plays his first game for a Super Bowl-hungry fanbase, Miller is already helping the Bills win. An aspiring general manager himself, Von is actively talking with general manager Brandon Beane.
"Anything Von Miller says, I'm going to respect. Von wants to win," said Beane in a press conference on Thursday. "Guys that have been around know what it takes, know what it looks like. (If) they're going to offer up what they think, I'm going to give them the time."
As for Miller's social media posts about Odell Beckham Jr. and other well-known names? That's just the part Bills fans get to see. In reality, the star pass rusher has carved out a role helping the front office.
"We've talked about players that he's not putting in social media before. Von sent me a text on Sam Martin. He's just not looking at the guys out there that you see."
Miller's text on Martin turned into a key free agent signing heading into the season. After the release of Matt Araiza, Buffalo had no punter on the team. Now, the former Bronco is bringing 10 years of pro experience to the Super Bowl-favorite Bills.
Who knows how much more Miller is helping the Bills' front office but his extra efforts reveal much about the pass rusher. At the end of the day, scouting potential signings is likely not a responsibility spelled out on his contract. His doing so is nothing but evidence that backs up three words Beane said more than once in Thursday's presser:
"Von wants to win."
Whether it's on the field or off of it, he's proving it.
