As the Dallas Cowboys continue to rebuild their WR core, players like CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup will stay as household names. As far as who the third player could be, betting odds favor the third-round rookie Jalen Tolbert.

Tolbert is already receiving a heavy amount of love from Action Network as he checks the three necessary boxes for success: position of need, plenty of opportunity and the need for heavy playing time.

While Tolbert has gotten a large amount of playing time with QB Dak Prescott since being drafted, circumstances have put him in a position to succeed out of necessity.

Due to injuries to Gallup and James Washington, Tolbert is a likely favorite to start the season as the Cowboys WR2/3. With his skillset, compatibility with Dak, and now presence on the depth chart, others are taking notice.

Tolbert, with still weeks until the season to start, currently has the sixth best overall betting odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. These are the top 15 rookies with the best odds, according to betonline.ag:

  • George Pickens: 6/1
  • Kenny Pickett: 9/1
  • Breece Hall: 9/1
  • Chris Olave: 10/1
  • Skyy Moore: 10/1
  • Jalen Tolbert: 12/1
  • Dameon Pierce: 12/1
  • Drake London: 14/1
  • Ken Walker: 14/1
  • Treylon Burks: 14/1
  • James Cook: 16/1
  • Christian Watson: 16/1
  • Romeo Doubs: 18/1
  • Garrett Wilson: 20/1
  • Desmond Ridder: 22/1

Tolbert currently has better betting odds than first-round players like London, Burks or Wilson. The Dallas Cowboys need for quality WR play, combined with Dak Prescott throwing the ball are key factors into this.

What's even better is that Tolbert isn't the only Cowboys rookie getting early award buzz.

In fact, second round pick Sam Williams is also given odds to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Albeit the 16th best odds at 25 to 1. Though not as favorable odds as Tolbert, still noteworthy.

If Tolbert were to win the award, he'd be the first Cowboys player to win OROY since Dak did in 2016. He would also be just the fifth rookie in franchise history to win a Rookie of the Year award.

It's a seemingly uphill battle for Tolbert, but not an impossible one. He's in a great spot with his QB on an offense in need of his services. Crazier things have happened.
