The loudest and most intimidating stadium that former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton experienced as an opponent might surprise some folks.
Milton, who started his career at Michigan before transferring to Tennessee, recently appeared on the "Talkin Giants" podcast and he was asked about the loudest away stadium he experienced as a college football player.
Instead of naming an SEC stadium, as I'm sure many fans expected, Milton went with a Big 10 stadium.
"The loudest and most intimidating stadium is Penn State," said Milton. "I don't feel like [any] stadium in the SEC is intimidating, because our stadium (Neyland) is pretty loud and can get rowdy, too."
Milton visited Penn State one time (in 2019) during his three seasons at Michigan. We checked the tape and it was definitely a wild scene in Beaver Stadium. It was so loud at the start of the game that Michigan had to call a timeout before their first play.
The video below, which includes only sound from the stadium/crowd, does a fantastic job of showing how insane the environment was in State College that night.
Milton didn't start that night against Penn State, but it's easy to see how that environment left an impression on him.
