The Los Angeles Chargers have been busy building a coaching staff under Jim Harbaugh. One assistant coach that they had interest in will not be joining the organization, though.

The Cincinnati Bengals promoted Jordan Kovacs to secondary/safeties coach. They recently blocked a request from the Chargers to interview him.

Kovacs played college football at Michigan. He was also an intern and graduate assistant under Jim Harbaugh with the Wolverines in 2017-18.

The Chargers had interest in Kovacs for their defensive staff, but they will have to move on. Since the Bengals blocked it, it's likely that the Chargers would have hired him to the same position as his one with Cincy.

If he was getting a promotion, they would not have been able to prevent the interview because of NFL rules.
