While the Kansas City Chiefs are currently focused on the Super Bowl Sunday, an NFL insider shared some important updates on two upcoming free agents.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport spoke about how things currently stand between the Chiefs, DT Chris Jones, and CB L'Jarius Sneed.

Chiefs GM Brett Veach has made it clear that Jones and Sneed are considered the team's "top priorities" to resign heading into this offseason.

Rapoport noted that the franchise tag is a way the Chiefs could do just that, but they can only use it on one of them. In 2024, the CB franchise tag for Sneed is projected to be just under 19 million dollars, and the DT franchise tag for Jones is projected to be just under 21 million dollars.

It'll be interesting to see if the team does elect to use the tag on either player and which one they would choose. Sneed's tag is cheaper, and with him only being 27, he likely would have a lot of suitors around the NFL if the Chiefs let him hit the open market. Jones' tag is more expensive, and with him turning 30 this offseason, there will be questions about how lucrative his market will be. But Jones has been a key member of the Chiefs' ongoing dynasty, and his departure would be a massive loss on the field and in the locker room.
