Ed McCaffrey knows a thing or two about winning Super Bowls because has won three of them.
On Sunday, he'll watch his son and San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey compete in his first-ever Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
During the NFL Honors red carpet event this week, Ed revealed what simple message he told his son ahead of the magical weekend.
"Go do your thing." Mr. McCaffrey told NBC Sports. "He's got great teammates. He's got great coaches. Some of them I played for, right? So he trusts in them, they believe in each other. They've just got to go out and get it done."
The reporter followed up by asking Ed if he gets nervous watching his son play.
"It's a good energy," Ed said. "If you don't feel any butterflies, there's something wrong with you. It's a good thing, very positive vibe."
If Christian and the 49ers end up winning Super Bowl LVIII, then he and his dad will become just the second son-father duo in NFL history to win a Lombardi trophy for the same franchise.
Ed won Super Bowl XIXX with San Francisco back in 1995 with Kyle Shanahan's dad, Mike Shanahan, who was the 9ers' offensive coordinator.

Because it can’t be Ed.
