NFL free agency is less than three weeks away and the predictions are already starting to begin. ESPN analyst Matt Bowen put out a piece this week that predicted the landing spot for their top 50 free agents. The Lions only land one player in this piece and that's Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller. Here's what he had to say:
"The Lions allowed 247.4 passing yards per game last season, sixth most in the league. But bringing in a perimeter corner like Fuller could boost the whole profile of the Detroit secondary. With 16 career interceptions (10 in his past four years with Washington) and the savvy technique to play both man and zone, Fuller is a good fit for Aaron Glenn's system."
The former third round pick for the Commanders has become a solid corner in the NFL over the last few seasons. After taking a break from the Commanders and winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs, Fuller returned to the Commanders in 2020 and has started 62 games since then.
Fuller has also had 10 interceptions and and 49 pass breakups in that time. In 2023 he had a decent season with two picks and nine break ups. Fuller graded out at an 83.1 by Pro Football Focus and was the one bright spot in an otherwise pretty bad Washington secondary.
How much would Fuller cost? Our on staff cap specialists project that Fuller would get a three year deal for $42 million with an annual per year salary of $14 million and $17.75 million guaranteed.
Fuller has a small connection to the Lions. His older brother Corey used to be a receiver for Detroit and his other brother Kyle used to play for the Bears around that same time and gave the Lions hell.
