As each day goes by, we come closer to the 2024 NFL Draft that will be held in Detroit, Michigan.
This week here at A to Z Sports, I am going through each round and selecting the most ideal pick for the Cleveland Browns.
Today we are into the fifth round and you will find the results from the previous rounds below. The Browns are set to have to fifth round picks. One from the Carolina Panthers and one from the Arizona Cardinals.
Browns need to take RB Jaylen Wright in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft
Pros: Wright had three years of production at Tennessee with an explosive junior year of over 1,000 rushing yards. In this draft, Wright is one of my favorite running backs and is as explosive as you’ll find from this group. Wright doesn’t shy away from contact and has game-breaking speed. If he gets in the open, it’s going for a score or at least a large play. A back that will be ready to contribute right away.
Cons: It isn’t really a con if Nick Chubb comes back close to full strength, but it could limit what Wright can do for the team right away. Also, Wright has a smaller frame at 5-foot-10 and 210 pounds. At that size, running between the tackles could be tough at times.
Browns need to take OT Ladarius Henderson in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft
Pros: Henderson brings a long wingspan and projects to be a right tackle in the NFL. A sound player in his footwork and technique and is a pretty solid pass blocker already. Cleveland can add solid depth here with the ceiling of being a starter.
Cons: At times, Henderson relies too much on his length and gets beat by quicker pass rushers. That is something he’s going to have to improve on in the NFL, especially if he lands in the AFC North.
Final word
The fifth round will offer the Browns to find solid depth pieces and perhaps bring them a player with a ceiling even higher. If the Browns take Wright and Henderson, they add a body at two positions that need it this offseason.
