Speculation has been running rampant as of late regarding the possibility of the Pittsburgh Steelers pushing to acquire Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields in the coming months.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter made headlines earlier this week, as he claimed that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is a "big fan" of Fields.

Fields’ future with the Bears is currently up in the air. At the moment, all signs point to the Bears using the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to select former USC passer Caleb Williams, which would essentially put an end to Fields’ run as Chicago’s starting quarterback.

ESPN analyst Louis Riddick would very much like to see the Steelers bring in Fields for a few reasons.

"Think of the effect that Arthur Smith had on Ryan Tannehill when Ryan Tannehill eventually took over for Marcus Mariota when they were down in Tennessee and Arthur was calling plays down there," Riddick said during a recent appearance on ESPN's "Get Up" program. "The play-action game with Justin under center on first and second down, with the dynamic duo they have at the running back position right there with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. It is perfect. It’s absolutely perfect.

"With the weapons of George Pickens, Diontae Johnson, and Pat Freiermuth, are you kidding me?"

Riddick has not thrown in the towel on Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. He added that while "Kenny’s my guy," Pittsburgh should still look to trade for Fields because he "would work" in the Arthur Smith-led offense.

From designed runs to play-action passes, Fields would have what it takes to blossom under Smith, who was hired earlier this month to become Pittsburgh's new offensive coordinator.
