The NFL's regular season is over, which for most teams, means it's time to start figuring out plans for the offseason.
NFL free agency is a huge part of the process, and along with the NFL Draft, it has everyone preparing for what should be a very active couple of months.
We've officially come up with our own contract projections for the NFL's top free agents that include context behind each player's 2023 season, the likelihood of a franchise tag, the projection itself, and the first-year cap hit for a team that's “all-in” and is needing to reduce that first-year hit in order to maximize their cap dollars.
So, without further ado, let's check out the projection for Miami Dolphins defender, Andrew Van Ginkel.
Andrew Van Ginkel 2024 Contract Projection

Van Ginkel has shown periodic glimpses of big plays over his first four years in the league. It started his rookie year when he created several turnovers on special teams. But over the past three years, he has been an exceptionally efficient pass rusher, logging 109 pressures on just 734 pass rush snaps.
His best opportunity to show what he can contribute in a larger sample size came late in 2023 following a season-ending injury to Jaelan Phillips. Over the last six weeks of the regular season, Van Ginkel totaled 26 pressures and two sacks over 145 pass rush reps.
Still, it remains to be seen whether Van Ginkel can ascend into a three-down player. Therefore, his payday may not be exactly what he expects.
- Franchise Tag Likelihood: Low
- Projected Contract: 2 years, $15.0 million, $7.5 APY, $10.0M GTD
- Year One Cap Hit: $3.2 million
