With just one more game remaining until the official end of the 2023 NFL season, most teams are fully in offseason mode.
That includes the Green Bay Packers, whose fans are now looking toward free agency, and the 2024 NFL Draft.
To prepare all 32 fan bases for the upcoming draft, I published my first two-round mock draft of the cycle, in which the Packers landed two dynamic playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Round 1, Pick 25: JC Latham, OT, Alabama
"The Packers have three picks in this mock draft and are in an interesting spot. While nearly every team in the NFL will be looking to add a WR, they have no need to do so early in the draft, which opens them up to multiple talented players who may fall further than they should as a result. With their first pick, I gave them taking OT out of Alabama, JC Latham. Latham can start at RT day one for the Packers, with the chance of developing into the LT apparent when David Bakhtiari either moves on to his next team or retires."
The Packers seem to have hit the jackpot again at QB, with Jordan Love looking like a true franchise QB. And with them having multipole reliable weapons in the fold, protecting him becomes the biggest need on the offensive side of the ball. Alabama's JC Latham could slide into the RT position or even make the move to guard and take his impeccable run blocking inside.
Round 2, Pick 41: Kris Jenkins, IDL, Michigan
"With the first of their two second-round picks, I have the Packers adding Michigan interior defensive lineman Kris Jenkins. The Packers need more impactful players in the run game, and Jenkins can come in day one and be a solid rotational piece that will improve that area every time he is on the field."
In the first round, the Packers improved their front on the offensive side of the ball, and here I have them doing the same for the defense. Michigan's Kris Jenkins is a versatile interior defender, he can be a rock in the run game, but he moves so much better than you'd think for someone his size. Jenkins could help take some of the pressure off Packers star Kenny Clark and improve their brutal run defense in one swift move.
Round 2, Pick 57: Chris Braswell, Edge, Alabama
"With their final pick in this mock, I have the Packers adding Alabama edge rusher Chris Braswell. Braswell has all the tools to be a real disruptor off the edge. This past week at the Senior Bowl, he showed how strong he is, and pairing that with his next-level athleticism raises his floor tremendously."
The final pick for the Packers in this mock potentially has the most individual potential in Alabama's edge rusher Chris Braswell. Braswell is going to have a huge performance at the upcoming scouting combine and showed solid production at Alamba this past season. There were even times when he outplayed his teammate and soon to be first-round pick, Dallas Turner.
Keisean Nixon’s 2024 free agency contract projection
The NFL's regular season is over, which for most teams, means it's time to start figuring out plans for the offseason.NFL free agency is a huge part of the process, and along with the NFL Draft, it has everyone preparing for what should be a very active couple of months. We've officially come up with […]
