Apparently, 28 is old now, at least according to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

During the Chiefs' playoff win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, Mahomes scrambled for a 13-yard run in the red zone. Mahomes' tough run was just three yards shy of a touchdown, and even resulted in a cracked helmet for the Chiefs QB after a strong collision with a Dolphins defender.

It was a valiant effort for Mahomes to try for the TD instead of just taking it out of bounds. Still, Mahomes believes he could have gotten the score if he was a bit younger.

“I was trying to get in that end zone," Mahomes said after the game. "The young Pat would have gotten in there. I’m getting a little old."

It's funny how Mahomes continually makes fun of his age and running ability considering that his 389 yards rushing this season was the highest rushing total of his career. Though, maybe he's onto something, considering this is the only season that he failed to earn a rushing touchdown. He was certainly close to getting one against Miami, though.

"I try not to do it too much but it’s playoff time," Mahomes said about lowering his shoulder and trying for the TD. "Sometimes you have to put it on the line and try to get in the end zone to win football games.”
