There is a chance the Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero, could be stalking the sidelines of a familiar opponent come the 2024 NFL season.

The Atlanta Falcons completed a virtual head coach interview with Evero, the team announced Sunday, Jan. 14.

Evero is also a candidate for the Panthers' open head coach position, but the team continues to desire an offensive mind to tutor Bryce Young after a disappointing rookie season.

The Panthers may want an offensive-minded head coach, but Evero's skill as a defensive coordinator may force the franchise's hand.

Despite a handful of injuries all along the defense, the Panthers' defense was never the reason the team lost games.

Carolina held teams under 300 yards of offense most nights, with an average of 293 yards per contest.

Evero has drawn interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars to interview for a defensive coordinator position. However, the Panthers blocked the request to interview Evero.

As things stand, the Panthers have 12 known candidates for the role of head coach.
