Jordan Whittington Career Stats
ESPN

Pros

  • Physicality
Can win against tight coverage by bodying smaller DBs or even nickels given his typical slot alignment
  • Power Slot
Displays the ability to function in a unique role as a bigger slot WR, hence power slot or big slot
  • Tackle Breaking
A handful for anyone to bring down. Often takes a group of players to end a play when he has the ball

Cons

  • Contested Catch
Would like to see better grabs in 1v1 situations given his obvious physicality and ability to prey on smaller defenders
  • Movement Skills
Not an exceptional athlete with a lack of fluidity in his movement patterns and overall rigidity to his athleticism
  • Body Catcher
Tends to let the ball catch him as opposed to the other way around. Want to see him get his hands out in front of the ball

Eval:

Whittington is the perfect player for a new NFL position known as the power slot. With his above-average build and physical nature, Whittington can matchup-hunt slot corners as an imposing force for teams heavy in 10 and 11-personnel looks.

Because of his lack of athletic traits, Whittington will need to become better at his craft and develop more succinct routes to carve out a niche in the league.

Floor Comp: Keelan Cole

Middle-of-the-field player who can do dirty work but lacks the physical characteristics to dominate.

Ceiling Comp: Christian Kirk

Well-built slot WR that can dictate authority over the middle and make splash plays as needed.
