Baltimore Ravens players and coaches have continued to issue their support to Lamar Jackson since the team crashed out in the AFC title game at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jackson had a performance to forget against the Chiefs. He turned the ball over twice and anchored the Ravens offense to a mere two scoring drives in the contest.
Jackson has since garnered much outside criticism for his showing on the day. Many members of the Ravens organization have come to the defense of Jackson, including team general manager Eric DeCosta.
DeCosta has not had an opportunity to speak to Jackson in-person since the AFC title game, but he did recently reach out to him to share with him a simple message.
"And I just texted him and told him how proud I was of what he was able to accomplish this year, and just watching him play was pretty amazing for me – to see him week to week and just the way that he practiced," DeCosta said during an end-of-season press conference on Friday. "He stayed healthy this year."
Lamar Jackson's potent 2023 season
As DeCosta touched on, Jackson put together a season to remember in the 2023 campaign. He led the Ravens to their first AFC North title in four years and tallied 29 total touchdowns in regular season play.
Jackson also posted career highs in several stats, including in completion percentage (67.2 percent).
