At long last, the New Orleans Saints are locking in on their new offensive coordinator.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, San Francisco 49ers passing game specialist Klint Kubiak is poised to become the next OC in NOLA.
The name Kubiak tells you everything you need to know here. Klint is the son of former NFL head coach Gary Kubiak, who was the first offensive coordinator for Mike Shanahan's Denver Broncos back in the late 1990s. Shanahan's son, Kyle, is who Klint currently works under with the San Francisco 49ers.
Kubiak began his NFL coaching career in 2013 as an offensive quality control coach for the Minnesota Vikings. He's held other roles such as assistant wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and was the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator in 2021 during Kevin O'Connell's first year as head coach.
Kubiak can't officially be hired by the Saints until after the Super Bowl when the 49ers' offseason begins, but this report indicates he's the guy for the Saints. He'll be the first new OC in New Orleans since Pete Carmichael was initially promoted to the position in 2009.
