The Kansas City Chiefs are already ending the bye week before the Super Bowl with some bad injury luck. Of course, we all know by now that standout defensive lineman Charles Omenihu will miss the game with a torn ACL, and there hasn't been much positive news on left guard Joe Thuney other than what head coach Andy Reid said on Thursday.
"As far as injuries go, Charles Omenihu will be out with a torn ACL," Reid said. "Then (Joe) Thuney will not practice today. He's making progress. We're not counting him out. We'll see how he does."
But, other than those two, the Chiefs are mainly good on the injury front. This is a time they will use to get as healthy as possible, and one player, Willie Gay Jr., who missed last week against the Baltimore Ravens, is already improving. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and had two straight days of full practice.
The Chiefs did have one player whose injury situation got worse, it would appear. Offensive lineman Prince Tega-Wanogho was downgraded from a full participant on Thursday to a limited participant on Friday. This is key because he is a backup, and as we have seen before in the Super Bowl, depth matters on the offensive line.
As far as everything else goes, it's about what you would expect. Here is the full Chiefs injury report for Friday. To view the 49ers' injury report, click here.
