According to Mike Garafolo, the Chargers are 'in striking distance' of getting a deal done with Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has been their top candidate throughout their interviewing process. His duties come with a hefty price, but he's a proven winner at the CFB and NFL level. Harbaugh is fresh off a national championship win with the Wolverines.
He also made a trip to the Super Bowl in his prior stint with the San Francisco 49ers. Harbaugh is an elite offensive mind with strong connections around the league.
Garafolo reports that the two sides are discussing coaching staff and the open general manager spot in their meeting happening soon. Additionally, they've presented Harbaugh with a strong offer when it comes to money. No surprise there as Chargers ownership said that they would be willing to pay a high price for the new HC.
Harbaugh and Los Angeles have a mutual interest, and a deal could come to fruition soon.
