Christian McCaffrey may face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58. Going into championship weekend, the San Francisco 49ers running back had his special season recognized by Kansas City.
McCaffrey was named as the NFC Offensive Player of the Year by the The Kansas City Committee of 101 for the 54th annual 101 Awards, voted on by 101 national sportswriters and sportscasters, with his selection the clearest indication yet that he is on track to win the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award, selected by the Associated Press.
The 101 Awards is the nation's oldest awards event dedicated exclusively to pro football, with the proceeds going to benefit Chiefs charities.
McCaffrey received recognition after racking up 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 21 touchdowns, with both those tallies leading the league. His 1,459 yards on the ground saw him win the rushing title for the first time in his career.
With the 49ers hosting the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game and the Chiefs visiting the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game, there is a distinct possibility that he will be going up against Kansas City in Las Vegas on February 11.
So while Kansas City is happy to celebrate McCaffrey's remarkable season for now, the city may soon be rooting heavily against him in what would be a rematch of Super Bowl 54, when the Chiefs staged a stunning fourth-quarter comeback to beat the 49ers.

Impressive stuff.
