The Miami Dolphins and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio have parted ways.
Sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday that Miami is "allowing Fangio to leave to be closer to his family in Pennsylvania."
Schefter adds that Fangio will be "the top target for the Philadelphia Eagles to hire as their defensive coordinator, and a deal is expected."
He also notes Fangio, who worked with the Eagles as a consultant in 2022, had an interest in working with the Eagles again last season as well, though the timing wasn't right.
The timing couldn't be more perfect since the Eagles are on the search for a defensive coordinator after firing Sean Desai.
Fangio comes with a long defensive past and has been the DC job for seven NFL teams dating back to 1995.
Under Fangio, the Dolphins' defense finished the 2023 season ranked 10th in yards allowed and 22nd in points allowed.
