The Philadelphia Eagles have found their guy.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is en route to Philly this morning to officially ink his new deal.
Fangio, 65, and the Dolphins mutually parted ways on Wednesday after just one season together.
Per reports, Fangio wanted to be closer to his family in Pennsylvania, and after the Eagles fired defensive coordinator Sean Desai over the weekend, the job vacancy gave him the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Fangio is no stranger to Philly having quietly helped their defense as a senior consultant during their 2022 Super Bowl run.
The defensive guru has been around the league since 1984. Over the years, Fangio has coached 10 top-ranked defenses and also had a head coach stint with the Denver Broncos from 2019-21.
In Philly, he will be tasked with tuning up an Eagles defense that finished 2023 ranked 26th in total defense (356 YPG), 31st in pass defense (253 YPG), and 30th in scoring defense (25.2 PPG).
