The hype around the Los Angeles Chargers has reached a new high for recent years. They just hired a proven head coach in Jim Harbaugh that has won at the college and professional level. He's a team builder with plenty of experience with offensive talent.
When Los Angeles hired Brandon Staley, they were taking a huge chance on a first-time HC in the NFL. With this decision, they took the opposite route. The Chargers went and got a winner.
Harbaugh owns the highest career win percentage (69%) among active head coaches in the NFL currently.
The bottom line to coaching is winning. No one cares about the 'how' or 'why' evolved, especially in the NFL.
Harbaugh has proven he can do that, and his time in San Francisco was impressive. He was 44-19-1 during his time there, with three NFC Championship Game appearances and a Super Bowl appearance.
The veteran HC slides into a good situation with a talented roster as well. Not many openings for a head coach involve a franchise quarterback. He has that in Justin Herbert, and the defense has some talented pieces as well.
Harbaugh will have some pressure on him entering his first season, but that has never stopped him before. He had plenty of doubters when he became the head man at Michigan, and he dominated the Big Ten and won a national title there. Harbaugh is used to it at this point.
Keep an eye out for staff updates for the Chargers in the coming weeks.
