The 2024 offseason is underway for a few teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders. They cannot start getting new players in any form yet, but the head coach and general manager hiring process are here, and the Raiders will have a new one in both positions for 2024.
This time of year is full of rumors, but then again, when isn't the NFL a rumor mill of things that just make the greatest TV show ever made a dramatic product every week? It's better that way, in my opinion.
The rumors are already going for the silver and black, whether it be about Jim Harbaugh or another candidate. Now, we are hearing that one former NFL head coach could be a candidate for the offensive coordinator position if the Raiders hire Antonio Pierce as the full-time head coach.
According to Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports, he has a source that is saying former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury could be the next offensive coordinator for the Raiders if they retain Pierce.
From what we know about Cowherd, who is not an insider at all but instead a talking head for a mainstream media sports show that just blurts out opinions to get clicks, this could very well not be true at all. However, let's give Cowherd his credit, as he has been in the industry for a while now, so he could have a source.
But I will say that Kingsbury as an offensive coordinator sounds like a good idea for the Raiders.
He was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for four years, including a 2021 season that saw them go 11-6, where they also had the 11th-best offense in the league, averaging 26 points per game.
He somewhat failed as a head coach, but with a lot less on his plate, he could be a good offensive coordinator.
Antonio Pierce is already making Raiders’ history
