The Houston Texans have been fortunate enough to have one of the best rookie classes in the entire NFL. Not only that, but they have the best rookie in the NFL in C.J. Stroud.
The Texans went from a three-win team in 2022 to a playoff team in 2023 with a rookie head coach, a rookie offensive coordinator, and a rookie quarterback in C.J. Stroud.
Sure, the head coach has a ton to do with it all, as does the offensive coordinator. However, Stroud is the one who is making the actual plays and the incredible throws you see each and every week.
Stroud, to most people, is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. He has some competition with wide receiver Puca Nacua, but he should get the votes over the wide receiver.
As the NFL reported, Stroud for the 2023 Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year Award is also a finalist. The other finalists are Puca Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams, De'Von Achane of the Miami Dolphins, Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions, and Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons.
All are great players, but it's clear and obvious that the quarterback of the bunch is the best. Stroud has already made NFL history several times and is one of the few guys on this list who has his team in the playoffs, playing the most important position. May I remind you?
So, it could be safe to say that he could be adding this award to his trophy case soon. And, who knows, he could add a Lombardi trophy too.
