The Alabama Crimson Tide reportedly lost a potential defensive starter to the NCAA transfer portal on Tuesday evening.

According to On3, Alabama cornerback Trey Amos has officially entered the transfer portal.

On3's Pete Nakos noted that Amos was expected to start for a starting cornerback job in 2024 with Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold heading to the NFL.

Amos is a former three-star recruit who originally signed with Louisiana out of high school. After spending three seasons at Louisiana, Amos transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2023 season.

The Louisiana native played in all 14 games for Alabama in 2023, making one start. Amos saw significant action in the Crimson Tide's win against Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

Amos isn't first key Alabama player to hit the portal in the wake of Nick Saban's retirement. Wide receiver Isaiah Bond quickly transferred from Alabama to Texas after Saban announced his decision to retire.
