Nothing feels quite as right as home.
And Los Angeles Rams tight end coach Nick Caley may know that all too well.
Caley is set to interview with the New England Patriots for an offensive coordinator role. It would be a step up in terms of responsibility, and it would send the much-revered coach back to the team the Rams hired him away from.
The Patriots will interview Caley for their offensive coordinator position under new head coach Jerod Mayo on Monday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Caley has an extensive history of coaching in the college ranks as well. Before his jump to the NFL, he coached in college for 10 seasons.
He got his break in the professional ranks through the Patriots.
In his first two seasons in the NFL coaching ranks with the Patriots in 2015 and 2016, Caley served as an offensive coaching assistant.
He won a Super Bowl in 2015 and 2017.
For the Patriots, Sophie Weller of A to Z Sports, reports that this is the first interview Mayo has scheduled for this position, but expect more in the coming days. But Caley is the perfect person to start with for their search.
For the Rams, McVay is at risk of losing another coach to his ever-growing tree of influence around the NFL.
