The Carolina Panthers made a statement with who they plan to hire as Dave Canales' offensive coordinator.

It was reported Tuesday that the Panthers are planning to hire Brad Idzik, according to league sources per Jeremy Fowler.

Idzik was the wide receiver coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but at 32, he is seeing a meteoric rise up the coaching ranks.

There is no indication if Idzik will call any plays under Canales, but the Panthers are looking to build a coaching staff that can relate to quarterback Bryce Young, who struggled throughout the 2023 season.

Idzik's hire is that proof of concept. With Canales and Idzik the Panthers have two guys at the top of the tree who are expected to be on the cutting edge of offensive schemes and gameplans.

Dan Morgan and Canales will be introduced formally at a later date next week. And for now, the Panthers are slowly building a staff they feel they can believe in to get the most out of Young moving forward.
