One Cleveland Browns opponent has taken another hit that’ll have the rest of the AFC North happy.
Shortly after the Baltimore Ravens lost defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald to the Seattle Seahawks, they’ve now lost another defensive staff member who is pretty important.
Dennard Wilson coached the defensive backs for the Ravens in 2023 after a couple of seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Wilson is set to take the defensive coordinator job with the Tennessee Titans.
Interestingly enough, former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan made the hire of Wilson. It is an instance of a former AFC North staffer taking away another to build his staff down in Nashville.
Wilson coached a group led by CB Marlon Humphrey in 2023. The Ravens gave up the third least passing yards in the NFL at 202.5 yards per game. Baltimore will now have to replace the coach who led that coverage group.
Teams reload with players and coaches every season and that won’t be any different here. But now having to replace multiple coaches from a great defensive unit in one offseason is not ideal. Baltimore now has some work to do and the rest of the north isn’t going to feel bad at all for them.
Browns could bring NE Ohio native and early Senior Bowl standout back to the area
It makes some sense to do just that.
