The Minnesota Vikings were able to hold on against the New Orleans Saints. It was the Vikes’ 5th win in a row and the team is now sitting at 6-4.

Joshua Dobbs had another brilliant performance, completing 23/34 passes for 268 yards and 1 passing TD.

Let’s get into our instant reactions from the game.

Joshua Dobbs is a good quarterback for this team

Dobbs will probably never be a highly-paid starter, but you can win games with him at QB.

Once again, Dobbs didn’t do any one thing incredibly, but he doesn’t make killer mistakes and his football IQ is off the chart. There were several times on Sunday when Dobbs kept plays alive with his legs and turned nothing into something.

Dobbs can do enough to lead the Vikings to an NFC North crown.

The Saints running game was stifled

Derek Carr left the game with a concussion and the offense never got going. Jameis Winston received little help from his ground game, and the Saints were routinely in 3rd-and-long scenarios.

Granted, the Saints were behind for much of the game, which makes it hard to run. Still, it was surprising to see Minnesota’s defense completely take the Saints’ talented RBs out of the game.

The Alexander Mattison experiment should be over

Another week, another disappointing performance from Mattison. The back ended with 27 yards on 8 carries.

It finally seems like Kevin O’Connell had seen enough. Ty Chandler came in and led the team with 15 carries. Chandler also found the end zone, and looked to have more juice than Mattison.

It’s unlikely we will see anything from Mattison we haven’t already seen. At least with Chandler, there could be some upside.
