Sherrone Moore became a household name this past weekend after filling in as Michigan's interim head coach while Jim Harbaugh is suspended by the Big 10 (Harbaugh is allowed to coach the Wolverines during the week, but he can't coach on game day…for now).

Moore, who is Michigan's co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, led the Wolverines to a win against Penn State this past weekend while coaching in place of Harbaugh.

Moore, oddly enough, has some strong ties to the Tennessee Vols' current coaching staff.

The acting Michigan head coach (on game days) played college football at Oklahoma when Vols head coach Josh Heupel was the Sooners' quarterbacks coach. Moore was also teammates with current Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle at Oklahoma. In fact, Moore and Halzle both signed with Oklahoma in late 2005 as junior college transfers.

Moore also has a connection to Vols linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary. The two coaches were on the same staff at Louisville from 2010 to 2013. Moore and Jean-Mary were also on staff together at Michigan in 2020.

College football is often an incredibly small world. This is just another example of how small it can be.
