The Buffalo Bills are nowhere near the sky-high expectations put on their shoulders before the season began. Months ago, it was Josh Allen for MVP and Buffalo being one of the top teams to compete for a Super Bowl.
Now, with the season over halfway complete, the team is looking more like pretenders than contenders. Now, injuries have played their part, there's no arguing that. However, the abysmal efforts on offense is what has fans hitting the panic button.
Tie that in with all the drama and controversy that transpired over the offseason, and Buffalo is not sitting in a good position. Just recently, Latavius Murray called a players-only meeting to discuss the current state of the team, that doesn't happen when a team is firing on all cylinders.
Now, add some more controversy to the unit as during a segment on The Pat McAfee Show with NFL insider Adam Schefter, the pair opened up about some locker room mishaps, and what exactly is going on at One Bills Drive.
Schefter began with an analysis that all of the Bills Mafia can get behind, "The Bills, they've looked off." To which McAfee exploded, "What's going on up there Shefty? You've heard something. There's been a lot of things that's been said… There's something going on in the locker room, you're hearing the same thing."
The NFL insider was quick to shut down any official reporting but added, "I'm not telling you that there's something going on, there's gotta be something going on in the locker room of course." He continued, "These are not the BIlls that we've seen. They're not playing at the same level, they're not functioning on defense without some of the guys they lost to injury. The offense just seems a little bit, it's just not what we're used to seeing from them."
Adam Schefter concluded with a strong message on the team's future, "It's early, are they going to be able to get that back or are they going to continue to flounder like this and raise questions and leave people wondering what are the issues that are afflicting the team?"
Not the kind of reporting or speculation the team wants ahead of what feels like a must-win matchup against the Broncos. To be fair, most of this is self-inflicting. The team needs to be better, and it's garnering national attention to the downfall they've seen as of late.
