The Philadelphia Eagles have officially signed wide receiver Julio Jones to their 53-roster, the team announced on Wednesday.
The move comes just in time as the Eagles prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys and Jones' former head coach/current Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
Although he's logged just two catches for 11 yards, Jones has been a solid veteran presence amongst a young Eagles offense.
He also scored his first touchdown for the Birds in just his second week with the team, which was an exciting moment for all.
"The reaction our team had when Julio scored that touchdown. I mean, you would have thought the way [T] Lane Johnson and [WR] A.J. [Brown] and [C Jason] Kelce and all the guys, [T] Jordan [Mailata], ran to the end zone, you would’ve thought there was a fight that had broken out in there," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday.
"They were just going into the end zone to celebrate with Julio because of how much respect they have for him, how much he’s done in the two weeks he’s been here, just his work ethic. Everybody notices that. Everybody notices the way Julio works."
In addition to signing Jones to the active roster, the Eagles signed tight end E.J. Jenkins to the practice squad and opened the 21-day practice window for center/guard Cam Jurgens (foot) to make his return from injured reserve.
