One win changes everything, as they say.

And after the Carolina Panthers' thrilling 15-13 win over the Houston Texans, linebacker Frankie Luvu earned an award no Panthers player has received this season: NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Luvu had a team-high 12 tackles and a sack of C.J. Stroud. The Panthers held the sensational rookie to 140 passing yards, the lowest total of his young career.

Winning brings some notoriety, and for Luvu that is the case. He played an outstanding game, arguably playing as the best player on the Panthers' defense for one afternoon.

"He was incredible," Panthers head coach Frank Reich said. "I mean, he was a beast. I didn't know it was that many tackles, but a couple of passes defended. Plays that are probably going to be first downs. That one third down right there, he makes a great tip. I think he had two passes defended in that as well… Just an all-around great game by Frankie."

The Panthers are hoping Luvu continues playing at a high level as they take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. The Colts are down a quarterback, but still prove to be a dangerous team.
