Another blow has taken place for the Cleveland Browns during the 2023 campaign, but it could have been a lot worse.
The Browns will be without LT Jedrick Wills Jr. for at least four weeks, he is believed to have suffered an MCL injury. Wills went down against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9 and was carted off.
It looked very bad at the time, but going to the injured reserve is good news. Cleveland’s left tackle dodged a bullet.
Losing Wills for the a bit now means that the Browns will have two starting tackles that were not in that position entering the season. In Week 1, the Browns lost RT Jack Conklin for the season. Since then, it has been rookie RT Dawand Jones filling in for him and he’s been solid.
Now starting for Wills is James Hudson. The Browns will lean on the swing tackle to hold things down without Wills. Wills wasn’t having a good season by any means, but he had been better as of late. It’s an unfortunate happening for a player who is in his fourth season. He will have the chance to return and end the season strong. The Browns picked up his fifth-year option, but his future with the team is cloudy.
An unfortunate and untimely injury to the former first-round pick’s season. Cleveland will have to push on without the former No. 1 pick for a few weeks.
Instant Reaction: Browns regain defensive dominance in blowout win over Cardinals
The defense returned to form in Week 9.
