Odell Beckham Jr. reached the end zone for the first time this season on Sunday.
It was not Lamar Jackson who connected with Beckham for the wideout’s first receiving touchdown of the year but rather backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. The fourth-year passer found the three-time Pro Bowler in the back of the end zone to put the finishing touches on Baltimore’s 37-3 home win over the Seattle Seahawks.
The previous time that Beckham scored a touchdown, he was playing in the biggest game of his career. He hauled in a touchdown in the first quarter of Super Bowl 56, and it was just a mere one quarter later that he tore his ACL.
Beckham went through a lengthy injury recovery process over the past year, and the touchdown catch in Week 9 made all the offseason work worth it.
"It’s been a long journey for me since February 22, 2022, all the way until now," Beckham said after the game. “It’s been a very long, long journey. Tough days, dark days, hard days [and] some good in there.”
Beckham has had his fair share of highs and lows with Baltimore this season, including a touchdown drought that lasted until Week 9. Amid his ups and downs throughout the first half of the season, Beckham received a much-needed vote of confidence from Jackson.
“Just to see him smiling, he was excited," Beckham said. "He's been saying it for weeks. ‘When it rains, it pours.’ He’s like, ‘It’s going to happen. It’s going to happen, and we’re all going to get rolling.’ And [it’s] just another win. You just have to keep stacking them."
Beckham tallied a season-high in receiving yards (56) against Seattle.
