The Baltimore Ravens are "expected" to re-sign quarterback Josh Johnson on Monday, according to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson.
Johnson was released by the Ravens on Saturday, and linebacker Jeremiah Moon took his spot on Baltimore’s 53-man roster ahead of its Week 3 home matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The longtime passer is a vested veteran, so he was not subjected to waivers.
Johnson served as the backup to Lamar Jackson at the quarterback position in the Ravens’ first two games of the season, but he did not take part in a single snap on offense in either contest. Tyler Huntley filled this role in Week 3.
Johnson signed with the Ravens in May. He featured in each of their three preseason games, where he combined for 285 passing yards and four touchdowns. He was among Baltimore’s initial roster cuts, but he rejoined the organization in late August.
It is up in the air whether Johnson will end up taking hold of the backup quarterback role for the Ravens in their upcoming Week 4 road game against the Cleveland Browns.
