Juan Thornhill is among multiple starters on the Cleveland Browns defense who have plenty of experience in facing Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Thornhill squared off with the Jackson-led Ravens offense a total of three times during his run with the Kansas City Chiefs, and he helped hold the two-time Pro Bowler to a combined two touchdown passes in the trio of contests.
As Thornhill prepares to once again meet Jackson in the upcoming Week 4 matchup between the Browns and the Ravens, he recognizes that he will be in for quite a "challenge" for several reasons.
"I mean, if you got a quarterback that can throw the ball and run, it’s always going to make it a lot more difficult on defense," Thornhill said on Monday. "Most teams, when they have a quarterback like that, they tend to slow down a little bit. But our goal is to not slow down, just to keep playing as fast as we’ve been playing.
"But for the secondary, that might just add one thing to us that we have to look for is that QB run game. So we’re excited for the challenge and I think we’ll be ready for it."
As Thornhill touched on, Jackson’s versatility as a quarterback can make life difficult for any defense, and this has been on full display over the early stages of the season. From his two passing touchdowns outing in Baltimore’s road win over the Cincinnati Bengals to his 101 rushing yards showing against the Indianapolis Colts, he sure has continued to keep opposing defenses on their heels.
Overall, Jackson holds a 6-3 career record against the Browns.
