A convincing Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals is already paying dividends for the Cleveland Browns.

After a 24-3 thumping of the Bengals, Cleveland has jumped eight spots in Sports Illustrated’s NFL Power Rankings.

Cleveland made a jump from No. 22 to No. 14 in these power rankings after the impressive victory to start the season.

Last week: win vs. Cincinnati, 24–3

Next week: at Pittsburgh

“The Browns make a huge jump on our list. Their debut was undoubtedly impressive, though it’s fair to be skeptical about the situation. Bad weather. Hampered quarterback on the other sideline. A new-look defense with no tendencies. This one was teed up for Cleveland. There is a chance this team will pivot into full-on contender mode next week. But for now, let’s celebrate responsibly.” – Connor Orr, Sports Illustrated

Along with the Baltimore Ravens, the Browns are the only teams to pick up a Week 1 win in the AFC North. Cleveland can help themselves out big time with a win over Pittsburgh in Week 2.

The Steelers were taken to the woodshed by the San Francisco 49ers, 30-7, so Pittsburgh will want to bounce back badly at home. On the road in Pittsburgh, this will be a tough game for the Browns, as it usually is in this division.

With another win, the Browns could be taken even more seriously and jump inside the top 10 potentially.
