Former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright went viral during his NFL rookie debut for the Chicago Bears in a way that he almost certainly wasn't expecting.
Wright, the No. 10 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, made his debut as Chicago's starting right tackle in an NFC North showdown against the Green Bay Packers.
The game didn't go well for the Bears as Chicago fell to 38-20 to their division rivals.
During the game, Packers linebacker Quay Walker returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown. As Walker was reaching the end zone, Wright, who hustled down the field trying to make a play, hit Walker as a Bears teammate was attempting to pull the Green Bay linebacker to the ground.
That was a great hustle play by Wright (even if Walker still scored). But unfortunately, the hit from Wright knocked Walker out of the game (the former Georgia Bulldogs linebacker is in the concussion protocol).
Packers fans, as you can imagine, weren't happy with Wright after the play. And a fine from the NFL certainly isn't out of the question for Wright.
It was a tough day for the Bears and that hit from Wright was likely just an instance of a player trying to make a play after a frustrating afternoon.
