Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel doesn't have a long list of pregame superstitions.
But there is one thing that Heupel does before (and during) a game that dates back to his days as a player.
On Wednesday night during Vol Calls, Heupel was asked by a caller if he has any pregame superstitions or rituals.
"Got one, I chew Big Red Gum," said Heupel. "I don’t know why."
"Since I was a player, it’s stayed with me," added Heupel when asked how long he's had the Big Red superstition.
Heupel noted that he chewed gum during games and never wore a mouthpiece when he was a player.
I'm sure there will be plenty of Big Red that's chewed by Heupel before, during, and after the Florida game on Saturday night in Gainesville. Even if the Vols win, which is certainly their plan when they head to the Swamp this weekend, it's sure to be a stressful environment for the third year Tennessee head coach.
