You just knew the Cleveland Browns were going to feel the after-effects of the beatdown they took in Week 4.
With the Browns losing to the Baltimore Ravens by a margin of 28-3, Cleveland has now fallen from No. 7 in the power rankings to No. 19.
The Browns sent out rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to start for the injured Deshaun Watson and it went terribly. As a result, the Browns are now 2-2 on the 2023 campaign.
Last week: loss vs. Baltimore Ravens, 28–3
Next week: bye“The Browns’ world-beating defense is always going to struggle when the quarterback gives the ball away three times and Lamar Jackson is twirling floater jump passes to Mark Andrews that no one else can catch. Still, it was a rude awakening for a team that is so clearly built around the run game and the defense. What happens if the defense regresses to the mean (which is possible considering that their Week 1 victory was against the now clearly hobbled Bengals) and the quarterback position remains static?” – Conor Orr, SI
Cleveland now goes to the Week 5 bye week that they badly needed. The Browns will have a chance to get healthy and get their starting quarterback out there in Week 6
It’ll be a very tall task coming out of the bye week when the San Francisco 49ers come to town. The 49ers haven’t lost a game but should be in store for a tough one against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.
The Bengals lost to the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers were beaten badly in Houston. In Week 4, it is just the Ravens with winning on their side.
