The Dallas Cowboys defense has gotten off to a fantastic start to the 2023 season.

Despite the blow to the secondary with the Trevon Diggs injury, there remains one constant every offense should fear: Micah Parsons.

In a recent ESPN article, Bill Barnwell went and ranked the best pass rushers by year all the way back to 1981.

Names like Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, and Michael Strahan were on the list. As well as two Cowboys.

DeMarcus Ware made two appearances, and there is a tease to Micah Parsons in this years section as it is left undeclared.

Micah Parsons has three sacks and six knockdowns; I'm not sure there's a level of dominance quite like telling the opposing coach that he should have taken his starting quarterback out of the game for his safety. If you're a pass-rusher and you're so dominant that you are actually looking out for opposing quarterbacks, you're a bad man.

Having Parsons has been an absolute game changer and you truly can't express his significance to the defense.  So far this season, Parsons has been doubled at a league-high of 40%. The crazy thing is, he is winning 36% of the time despite the double teams, which is also a league-high.

Parsons' presence forces others to be freed up for more one-on-one opportunities and it's a big part of why Osa Odighizuwa is off to a hot start with 3.0 sacks.

Having two Cowboys greats recognized on the same list isn't all that surprising, especially when Ware has taken Micah under his wing. The sky is the limit with Parsons and it's easy to see why he could be one of the best ever when it's all said and done.
