DeForest Buckner has lauded Lamar Jackson as a "superstar" ahead of the upcoming Week 3 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens.

"Lamar Jackson, he’s a special player," Buckner said ahead of Week 3. "He’s a superstar in this league. He’s proven it year in and year out. Using his legs, obviously — if he’s passing from the pocket, he can make those throws."

The last time that Jackson squared off with the Colts, he had quite a field day. The two-time Pro Bowler tallied four passing touchdowns and posted a 140.5 passer rating in Baltimore’s home win over Indianapolis in the 2021 campaign. He also threw for a career-high 442 passing yards in the contest.

This time around, Buckner is well aware that the Colts defense must up its game in order to slow down the versatile quarterback.

"We’ve got to do a good job, especially with him in the passing game, as a defensive front rushing together and making sure we are closing off those rush lanes and containing him as much as we can," Buckner said. "… The last game we played him out there, he killed us in the fourth quarter and obviously we still remember that. We’ve got to do a really good job of getting guys in and being fresh and making sure we are containing him."

Overall, Jackson boasts a 7-2 record against AFC South opponents.

The Ravens are looking to move to a 3-0 record on the season for the first time since the 2016 campaign.
