Florida Gators legend Chris Doering, a former UF wide receiver who is in the Florida Athletics Hall of Fame, didn't have a glowing review of the Tennessee Vols' offense on Friday.
Doering joined 104.5 The Zone's "The Buck Reising Show" on Friday to discuss this weekend's big game between Florida and Tennessee.
And Doering made it clear that he hasn't been very impressed with the Vols' offense so far.
"Everybody wants to talk about Joe Milton and how he's been inaccurate," said Doering. "And he has at times been inaccurate. But I'm really disappointed with the wide receivers of Tennessee. I thought this was one of the best wide receiving corps heading into the season that the SEC had. And to see them drop as many balls as they have has been disappointing to me. Offensive line, I know you get Cooper Mays back this this week, presumably, for Tennessee, but those guys looked bad at times last week against Austin Peay. Running backs haven't been as solid in protection as you'd like. So it's really been a group effort."
This isn't the first time this week that Doering has thrown some shade at Tennessee. Earlier this week, Doering said during an appearance on "A Peek Inside Florida Gators Football" that he doesn't know who the second best team in the SEC East is right now after noting that he thought it was Kentucky before the start of the season (I'm not sure Kentucky even thought Kentucky was the second best team in the SEC East before the season, so that was obviously a slight toward Tennessee).
It seems that Tennessee has plenty of doubters as they enter conference play. And I'm sure they'll be eager to silence those doubters this weekend in Gainesville.
They'd be wise to use Doering's slight as motivation.
