New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr wasn't perfect in Week 1. No one expected him to be.

Alas, he did have a solid game against a well-coached Tennessee Titans defense. he made a couple of noteworthy mistakes, but Carr made up for them in big moments in Week 1. Saints GM Mickey Loomis took notice of that.

On the Saints Coaches Show on WWL Radio, Loomis said that Carr's Week 1 performance was the type of outing that the front office was looking for from their  new, veteran starter.

“I think he did more than [manage the game]. I mean, he made some plays that we haven’t seen made here for a while," Loomis said. "Off-platform throws, plays breaking down, him solving problems. He did a lot of really good things." — Loomis on Carr

You can tell that the front office and staff were impressed with Carr. Loomis' comments point to a QB presence from him that is the classes thing they've seen to Drew Brees since his retirement.

Of course, Carr is not the hall-of-famer, but he is a leader that has proven himself at the NFL level. His floor and potential with the Saints' piece around him make this team feel much more confident than years prior. That is clear.

The Saints trusted Carr on their final possession of the game, and he salted it away with a massive deep shot to Rashid Shaheed. The completion closed the game and the victory for New Orleans. In recent years, we've seen the Saints struggle to put teams away late in the fourth quarter.

Hopefully, this is the start to a new trend for Carr and the Saints.
