A clash of rookie QBs is going down in Week 2 between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.

As 2023 first-round picks, Anthony Richardson and CJ Stroud are expected to go head to head for their first of presumably many matchups to come in the future between these teams. 

Weather Forecast:

The projected forecast at kick-off time 1 p.m. EST tomorrow in Houston, Texas, is 90° with no rain in sight. The heat will only elevate during the game as it is expected to rise to 93° before the final whistle.

Texans: 

The Texans dropped their season opener last week Vs. the Baltimore Ravens 25-9. A big reason for the loss being that they allowed the most sacks in the NFL in week 1 with 5. And their injuries continue to pile up on the offensive line heading into Week 2. 

Colts: 

The Colts failed to win their season opener yet again this past week as they fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-21. They will now attempt to add a win during the first two weeks of the season for the first time since 2020. 

Opponent Player Spotlight of the Week:

Dameon Pierce

Last week, the Texans gameplan was derailed when their run game could not get going. Going forward, they want Pierce to be the engine that runs this offense to take pressure off rookie CJ Stroud. Week 1, they saw Stroud have to drop back over 40 times, which they do not view as a winning formula. This week is going to be a tough matchup as well for Houston with Indianapolis' stout run defense. And with LT Larmey Tunsil's status still questionable, Pierce will have to work for every yard he gets. Pierce has shown himself to be a force early in his career, and it would be a mistake for anyone to count him out, even in this tough matchup. 

Colts Player Spotlight of the Week:

Grover Stewart

The anchor to the Colts run defense, and one of the most underrated players in the entire NFL, is DT Grover Stewart. His ability to impose his will on interior linemen on his way into the backfield is one of the constants with this Indianapolis Colts defense. And this week, they will have the task of corralling Dameon Pierce. The Texans offensive line is currently depleted with injuries, with three starters on IR already, two of which coming in the interior with center Juice Scruggs and guard Kenyon Green. And those depth linemen playing in their place will now have the task of blocking Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner all game long.
