The New Orleans Saints are prepping for a Week 4 matchup inside the NFC South. A major storyline is whether or not QB Derek Carr will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After suffering an apparent shoulder injury, Carr was written off for a chunk of time. Now, after his diagnosis of an AC Joint sprain, his status in the short-term remains unknown. At the least, Carr is preparing to play in Week 4 – if he gives the team their best chance to win.

“I’m preparing to get ready to play… and hopefully it works out where I can play.” – Derek Carr

Carr mentioned that it will be about whether or not he/the team feels that he can safely play. That will determined his return.

Additionally, Carr acknowledges that he would not want to play if he felt that he would hold back the offense whatsoever, due to the injury. You can tell that he is a team player and a leader for the Saints.

The likelihood that Carr plays in Week 4 doesn't seem super high, but we cannot rule it out yet. If he does miss the game, Jameis Winston will be the Saints starter while he is out.
