Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta did not go all out to revamp his team’s defense with big-money signings during the offseason. He did bring in a few veterans to bolster the unit. For one, he signed Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year deal in August.

Clowney has proved to be a valuable addition to Baltimore’s front seven through the early stages of the 2023 season. He has tallied 1.5 sacks, and he leads the team in total pressures with 13.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has been pleased to see Clowney fit in just well in defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald’s scheme so far this season.

"Jadeveon Clowney has played great," Harbaugh said on Wednesday. "It's a great point and question. He's done a great job. We've always thought the world of him as a player, playing against him, and when you have to scheme against him — the point that you are all making — it's really tough.

"When you face guys like that, and then you have a chance for them to play for you, you're excited about that. He's played really well. He fits what we're doing well and plays hard. I'm glad he's here."

Clowney is just coming off of a potent performance in Baltimore’s home loss to the Indianapolis Colts, where he logged 0.5 sacks, four blitzes, and one quarterback knockdown in 49 snaps played on defense.

Clowney is set to next feature for the Ravens in their Week 4 road matchup against his former team in the Cleveland Browns.
