Last week, before the Rebels' game against the Tide, Kiffin told reporters that he noticed Alabama using different coaches from week to week to make defensive play calls.
Saban refuted Kiffin's claim.
It was obvious that Kiffin was trying to create some chaos in Tuscaloosa ahead the Alabama vs Ole Miss game, but it didn't work. Alabama beat Ole Miss 24-10 last weekend.
On Thursday, Saban returned the favor to Kiffin by subtly trolling the Ole Miss head coach during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
At one point during the interview, Saban pointed out that Mississippi State (Bama's next opponent) is better than all of the teams that Alabama has played so far this season except for Texas.
"This team (Mississippi State), really to me, is better than all the teams that we’ve played so far except Texas in terms of the caliber of players, how they play, how tough they are, how physical they play," said Saban.
Mississippi State is Ole Miss' biggest rival. And they're 2-2 so far this season.
Ole Miss, which is 3-1 this season, is ranked No. 20 in the latest AP Top 25 poll while Mississippi State is unranked.
Most folks who don't have a vested interest in either program would likely point to Ole Miss as the better team.
Which is what makes this an obvious attempt by Saban to troll Kiffin.
Saban and Kiffin's love/hate "frenemy" relationship is one of the best things about college football right now. It seems like these two are constantly trading barbs through the media.
And by the way, I think we all know that Kiffin will have some sort of response to Saban's comments about Mississippi State.
