It's been an incredible start to the season for Christian McCaffrey, one that was illustrated by him being named as September's Offensive Player of the Month in the NFC.

The 49ers running back received that prize after racking up 423 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in the opening three games.

McCaffrey, acquired in a trade from the Panthers last year, leads the NFL in rushing with 353 yards and last week tied Jerry Rice by scoring a touchdown in 12 consecutive games including the postseason.

While McCaffrey enjoys records and accolades, he is not letting those distract him from the ultimate goal, with the running back knowing an offense averaging 30 points a game through the first three weeks can reach even higher levels to help the Niners lift that coveted sixth Lombardi Trophy.

He said of his award: "It’s fun but the season’s so early, and there’s so much football left, I think we’re all still hungry for more."

"We know we have so much potential in the team, we can get better every week."

McCaffrey, his teammates and opponents around the NFL know the 49ers have only scratched the surface of what they can achieve this year, making the start enjoyed by San Francisco and the focal point of its hugely productive attack all the more exciting.
